Ok i know this sounds stupid, but i cant get the sodding thing to go down, its half way up my window. The reason being is that my window was open and i shut it because i felt cold. Its one of those blinds that has three strings to pull it up and down.

We've all been there, and without being present in the room, all I can say is: keep trying. It may work in the end, it may not. You might even take the whole thing down, there's no way of telling. If all else fails, tape a bin liner to the window and go to bed. Oh, and DON'T PANIC.

People normally complain about not being able to get it up ;)

I suggest you keep tugging and it might just go. Have you tried lubrication ?

;):D

A short, sharp tug on the old string is what you need... pretend you've had 50,000 Volts shoved up yer backside, that sort of tug should do the trick ;)

Hmm...I can see this ending in someone being shouted at by their mum if they aren't careful

I really don't think brute force is the answer. Why not imspect the workings closely and see what part is catching on what?

I found out the problem, thanks to my dad :D . It has a locking mechanism on it.

Errrr - don't most blinds have a lock of some description?

you usually pull the 3 strings down and to the side for about 2 inches, this unlocks the lock. then just allow the weight of the blind to pull itself down.

Exactly - except ours have 2 strings and twirly rod for adjusting the blind pitch.
