With all the information now being reported about CO2 emmisions and climate changes I have been looking at the amount of CO2 my household generates.

I wondered if any one else would also be interested using this Carbon Calculator.

You have very low scores.
I don't.
Total per year: 12.67 tonnes
home:3.78
appliances:2.06
travel 6.83

Travel is the killer as the wife has a car which is used for business travel.

My score came out as 7.00 tonnes a year for our home.

Heating : 3.13 tonnes.
Appliances : 1.79 tonnes.
Transport : 2.08 tonnes.

Not too bad against the National Average of 10.22.

I think I get marked up for no cavity insulation - my walls have no cavity, just 2 layers of very hard brick ;)

It doesn't really work that well. I had to say "yes" to draught-proofing even though it's not needed - I have uPVC doors and windows. And I said "no" to loft insulation and then realised I'm sat in the loft, so it would be tricky to fit :p:

Oh dear. For a family of two:

Home: 5.3 (national average: 4.5)
Appliances: 0.9 (national average 1.56)
Travel: 15.5 (national average: 4.10)

I think it's the flying and my wife's one hour commute to work :(

Did it give an option for a log fire heating? Would have thought that would give off a fair bit of co2.

my problem is travel by car takes 30 mins door to door. (46 MPG+)

Bus takes upto 2 hours and I'll have to walk about a mile to the stops

I thought wood burning was CO2 neutral, due to it only releasing what it absorbed when it was growing?

I thought that was mostly methane, not CO2?

Methane's still a greenhouse gas.

I never said it wasn't, I was just nit-picking. :D
