Why is it that these calling features are not available in all franchises?

Quick Dial/Speed Dial:

You dial #75 or something like that and then a number between 1 and 9, this will then put you through to the saved number more quickly. It seems like its only available in the ex-Telewest Yorkshire cable franchise.

Warmline:

This lets you store a favourite number and when you lift the handset, you don't even have to dial any numbers but just listen to the dial tone for 7 seconds and you will be automatically be put through. Again, only available in Yorkshire.

NTL Advanced Voicemail:

In the NTL franchises, a new voicemail service was introduced a few years back, it is more advanced than the one used by Telewest and could even let you send messages to other NTL voicemail users and even save up to 30 messages. Is this coming to all franchises?

Methinks that you've answered the question yourself there. :erm: NTL and Telewest had differing infrastructures and (consequentially) technology, hence some features on NTL not available on T/West and vice versa. Give it a couple of decades for both to catch up, :D

Thats right. However i'm in the ex-NTL and Telewest franchise Cable London, thats right NTL and Telewest, they both used to own Cable London ltd at one time. And Yorkshire Cable is also a Telewest franchise, both are able to support Warmline and Quick Dial, yet they have been removed from the Cable London franchise a few years ago.

Cable London and Birmingham Cable were originally jointly owned by Comcast(Taken over by NTL,1998) and United Artists(Renamed Telewest). Telewest bought out NTL's 50% share in 1999, this was probably for NTL to raise cash to acquire the Cable and Wireless franchises.

And although the telephone infrastructures vary from franchise to franchise, most infrastructures are the same/similar as each. The only really different infrastructure is the Eurobell South west franchise which is a similar infrastructure to BT's. Furthermore, isn't the Telewest General Cable infrastructure the same as NTL's Cable Tel?
