Not anymore unfortunately, prices have been hiked up a lot during the last few years (i've been going since 2000 when it was cheap!). But who cares cos i'm not paying :p:

I'm not bothered really somewhere where I can get away for a few days, I've done London a few years ago so something a little bit nicer.

I'll be there next Thursday for 3 days :DWe used to go over to Amsterdam quite a lot. We took the North Sea Ferry from Hull to Rotterdam on a Friday evening at 9:00pm which got into Rotterdam at 8:00am Saturday. The overnight cruise was an experience in itself especially if winnings were good in the on-board casino. There was also the on-board bars, cabaret and cinemas. A short train journey to Amsterdam where we stayed for a couple of nights before returning to Hull. Food on the ferry was excellent. It's been quite a few years back since we last went over so prices will have changed a fair bit. We used to pay £49 each for the return journey if doing it on the cheap which included dinner and breakfast and an aircraft style seat in one of the lounges instead of a cabin.

We used to go to a Thai restaurant in Amsterdam and have the rice table. You chose what type of rice you wanted and they brought a plateful together with a tureen of extra rice on a plate warmer. They put several warmers in the centre of the table with around 40 different dishes of different foods. It was just about impossible to eat everything that was put in front of you as there was so much of it. It was great to be able to sample so many dishes.

How about West Wales - such as New Quay (http://www.newquay-westwales.co.uk/)?

Need to find a good rollercoaster - will sort you out :D Pleasure Beach at Blackpool and Alton Towers are the obvious choices.

Blackpool is looking good at the moment, I can get a decent room for £20 a night bed and brekfast. 3 nights = £60 i don't think I can get any better than that at the moment, thats for a hotel on the seafront too.

If you are going to Blackpool, try here Gynn Square (http://www.laterooms.com/en/p3158/hotel-reservations/75864_courtneys-of-gynn-square-blackpool.aspx) - some relatives from Glasgow stayed there, and thought it was very nice.

£38.50 per night, but worth it, they said - on the North Shore, so 10 minute walk, 2 minute tram ride away.

Sounds great - except i get seasick :( Besides my flights from Liverpool were only £40 each in the easyjet sale (booked them a few months back).

The thai restaurant sounds nice - i'm looking for somewhere to have a special meal as i'll be celebrating a milestone birthday. Any other places you can think of? How about the floating chinese?

Be careful - quite a lot of the cheaper places are happy to take in the stag and hen night lot. Could be a rough night in a rough room :D Ask if they do.

Now now - Nidge mentioned 'somewhere nice'. Cleethorpes is a dump as a holiday resort. Oh, and bearing in mind the fact that the sun's been out over the last few weeks, it's also full of Doncaster...

LOL, true that :D

I would consider York, you can pick up nice reasonable priced rooms from this web site (http://www.visityork.org/thedms.asp?dms=1&param1=stay&accommType=SV&so=YYYY), I am taking Mrs Gump for a weekend away there on Friday ;)

LOL the last time I went to Cleethorpes we had to chase the sea as it was going out faster than we could run, I've never seen the tide go as far out as it does in Cleethorpes, it goes out miles you have a job seeing the sea when it goes out fully.
