Is there anything special about the cable that connects to an NTL 250 modem, the problem I have is that I have around 10 metres of cable but my modem is only about 30cm from the socket so I'd like to shorten in.

Rather than working on the original cable and it all going pear shaped I was wondering if it was ordinary coax cable and what sort of connectors it uses.

Thanks

The coax used by the cable company is very good quality (Fully foil shielded) 75 ohm impedance type coax. For a very short length (30cm) you'd probably get away with it - though I wouldn't go any longer. You'll need two (F) type male connectors.

In fact your local electronics suppliers, I.e. Maplin, Tandy or (maybe) PC World will (most likely) have a short F to F extender cable - to save you making one up.
