This problem has been rattling my brain for god knows how long and it's time it was solved.

I'm from the Telford area TF7 5HQ I've been on the 10mb service however I need some answers regarding download speeds.

http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/blueyondergames/demos/D3Demo.exe

Through firefox 400 - 700 KB/sec
Through internet explorer - 400 - 700 KB/sec
Through DAP 1000 - 1400 KB/sec

are the above speeds correct for a 10mb / 20mb connection? I was under the impression that it would download at or well be visible at 8.7mb/sec or something like that.

Any help would be appreciated

I think I found the answer, according to http://www.easycalculation.com/bandwidth-calculator.php

If I type in 1400 and choose KB it shows up as 11.2 megabits and 1.4 megabytes so I think that answers it

Those speeds are correct for the 10 meg service, yes.

A properly working 10Mbps (Megabits per second) connection should download at around 1200kB/s (1200 kiloBytes per second) or 1.2MB/s (1.2 MegaBytes per second).

That's under ideal conditions of course. ;)
