This problem is coming and going like the problems as of late in the world.
I'm in the Telford area ever since March We have been having problems I use the term problems because that's what it is, a constant and on-going problem where I can see no escape.
I look at this page day to day, it's the service status page.
http://status-cable.virginmedia.com/vmstatus/summary.do
Look at the amount of problems, it's hardly making me believe that after August my problems will magically go away, August is when the upgrade for 20mb goes live. I'm currently on the UPTO 10mb service..
My latency in all games this past 2 weeks has been shocking rising from 60ms all the way to 5000ms, speedtests while I know they are unreliable they would at least give an indication of the speed.
The below test is at 12.09pm
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2007/07/19.png (http://www.speedtest.net)
That was my 10mb connection.
Through command prompt pinging various websites such as:
bbc.co.uk = 251ms
google.com = 235ms
When I phoned support last time, I spoke to a young woman there who informed me since March there had been problems within my area, then they rolled out the planning for the upgrade to 20mb which again added further delays and problems to the service.
I would ring them to complain about it again but I can't justify the cost of the phone call to be transfered through to India and not get a satisfactory response.
So to clarify.
I'm connecting to the UPTO 10mb service from Telford, Shropshire
nslookup reveals
default server: ns1-wol.blueyonder.net
address: 62.31.176.39
The -wol is obviously the wolverhampton center I'm connecting to which according to the VM upgrade page is being done in August.
How long should I hold on before I just cancel the account?
I'm just under 1000 meters from my local exchange so I've been considering ADSL
