I have just rebooted my modem to see if the 20MB upgrade is available yet as I seem to have waited a lot longer than any of my friends to recieve the upgrade and sure enough the message below appeared:-

"2007-07-24 17:06:49 6-Notice E102.0 SW Download INIT - Via Config file cm-20480-768"

however after the message another one appeared in the log and displayed the following:-

"2007-07-24 17:06:51 4-Error E107.0 SW upgrade Failed after download - Incompatible SW file"

Does this mean that Iam not on 20Mb yet and that the software will need to be resent to my modem?

DOn't worry about the log file and go by what data you see in the downstream/upstream status section. That will tell you what levels the modem is set to.

I dont seem to have a downstream/upstream status section on my Motorola SB5101E modem. I remember having one on my old scientific atlanta modem though.

Sorry I thought that my edit had saved on my previous post, but I must have done something wrong. I added that my download speed is only 4223 kb/s and as been like this for about 2 months now

Don't worry about the 'incompatible SW file' message. Virgin send multiple configs for different modems, and you use only one of them. The one you don't need is rejected with the error you can see.

The fact you have the entry 'Via Config file cm-20480-768' means that you are now on the 20Mbs service (even if your real speed suggests otherwise).
