internet connectivity

About the last 6 weeks or so, i have been having trouble connecting to the interent.
When clicking on the I.E icon, all i get is that the page cannot be found. I.e the normal response if the page or website cannot be connect to.
Also in the bottom left hand side of the screen i see a quick line saying dns error.
This happens about once a day.
Last nite i was connected no problem, when trying to connect today, nothing.
Until about 11pm, when hey presto.. all worked again.
I did reboot my router a few times.
All the time i do not have connectivity, i can email no problems to anyone i like.

Any ideas please?

I've had a feeling that VMs DNS servers are part of the problem with the speed issues that many have suffered over the last few months.

You might want to try a service called OpenDNS - the instructions for using it with Windows XP are here (http://www.opendns.com/start/windows_xp.php)

This might sort your problem if VMs own DNS servers are having an "off day" !
