Hi,

My modem has recently stopped working and i am currently waiting for a replacement to be sent out.

In the mean time, i was wondering if you can use the ethernet connection on the set top box to connect to the internet?

I have hooked up the ethernet connection from the set top box to my LAN Port of my pc (the same connection used for the modem).

I manage to get an ip address, and recive a few (6) packets sent back from the connection. However, the connection has 'limited or no connectivity'.

I've tried all the usuall repair stuff and was just wondering if there is any way/software that can be used to achive a connection via the set top box?

Thanks.

Not unless you ring VM and ask them to activate the box.

You'll only be able to use the STB for internet service, if Virgin Media activate it for you. Not all areas had broadband via STB service available, and not all STBs can support it, even if in an enabled areas. Where service is possible the best STBs are only capable of 4 meg.
