Hi all in the forum.
Just to add to the woes of people reporting slow speeds on the 20Mb service, I am reporting same down here in Harlow Essex. Speeds seem fine up to about 3pm then they get slower and slower when my last speed test was about 1Mb download, whereas at 1pm it was about 12Mb from a uk server. I am not prepared to pay £37 a month for a service that I am not getting and certainly not paying 25p per min +10p connection charge to tell them about my speed. So where can I go from here. I cannot contact them without it costing me so guess the only option I have is to warn others about this situation and leave Virgin. I am prepared to wait maybe a week or so to see if things improve before leaving, then there is the local paper to warn others not to subscribe. My phone, TV, and broadband services are coming to around £60 a month, and happy to pay it if the services work, but they are not going to take the mickey and expect me to pay for telling them their service has failed.
totally disgruntled

Thanks for the reply JediMaster, but Traffic shaping, according to Virgins own website is a 4 hour (or more) penalty for downloading more than 3 Gb in any one session in peak times on a 20Mb connection , unless I have misinterpreted that. I don't download anything like 3 Gb in peak times so I should not be penalised by Traffic shaping. and just for the record, just did a speed test now 5pm ish and got 695 kb down and 3 kb up, how that for a 20Mb connection
regards
please see here for a full explanation of Traffic shaping
