I am supposed to be on 10meg broadband and over the past few weeks I`ve been checking the speed with different sites, guess what ? I have never acheived 10 meg at anytime day or night. I phoned to complain and was told I had to ring tech support (25p a minute + 10p connection charge ) after arguing that I did not want to ring tech support at those prices I was told they couldn`t help me . So I bit the bullet and rang tech support, first 2 mins spent telling me that the call was costing me 25p a minute( I KNOW !!!) 2ND 2 minutes asking for my account no ,name, postcode , how do I pay my bill etc. ( £1.00 already and they haven`t asked what`s wrong yet) I explain "I`m paying 37 quid a month and not getting what I`m paying for ,consistently, WHY ???) "We`ll need to run a few tests " she says "not at 25p a minute" says I "bye bye". Anyone else suffering this problem? Think I`ll be going Skywards very soon.
What speeds are you getting?
Have you tried downloading a file, using a segmented download managed from http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/blueyondergames/demos/ ?
Finally what area are you in? :)

Itvaries between 1-2 meg and perhaps 7-8 if I`m lucky but thats at 2.0clock in the morning, I`m in the Basildon Essex area in which the roll out to 20meg is supposed to be completed, is that a free upgrade by the way because I was asked to ring up and ask for an upgrade , but it would cost more, not getting what I`m paying for now blowed if I`m paying more for the priveledge

If you want perfection, lower your standards
Like other BB suppliers, don't they quote "upto" whatever speed ?
You went through all that hassle to get as far as you did on the phone so you should have stuck it out a bit longer surely.
Had you stuck it out that little bit longer and let them run their "tests" you might have been able to do something about it.Now though, you will just have to go through it all again:confused:

I totally agree. Went to all that bother then gave up without actually carrying out any investigation. Did he expect the support person to help through telepathy without the need to know who he was and what his problem was?
what modem do you have?
how are you connecting? usb/ethernet direct/via router?

I spent nearly an hour on the phone with them myself a couple of weeks ago, trying everything from different computers to different OS`s......and this was with a tech that first advised i go to speedtest.net so you can imagine how drawn out things got:)
Fair enough i did`nt have to pay for the call but that would no doubt have been refunded in the long run anyway.
And had it not been........well,it would have been well worth the call either way.Patience paid off you could say:)

Funny you should ask, I'm on 20mb and as of right now I was downloading a 500mb file and it was going at, wait for it .. 2200kb/s. I also just tried a download from Usenet and that was going at a considerably high speed also, 1800kb/s.
