Hi, after being on 20meg for 7 days now from the 10meg upgrade i have noticed that now i hardly get anywhere near my old 10meg download speed yet i am paying more now for less than what i was able to get. I appreciate traffic shaping and peak hours being slower but when i was on 10meg at least i could obtain a full 10meg download during the day if i required it and streaming in the evening from gametrailers, utube, ect , ect actually working. Now on 20meg i cannot stream anymore without waiting forever and constant buffering in the evenings and downloads during the day only ever reach around 5 to 6 meg.

so what do i do, ring up and complain and be read a script saying its not VM its my PC, or ring up and say i wish for a discount as now my service has degraded to what i was on when on 10meg and i'm not going to pay for a top teir service if its worse than before, or finally ask for a downgrade 4meg, save some money and probably not be able to use the internet at all.

Not happy, everything was fine on 10meg and was happy, been on cable since NTL started and now its all gone to pot and i don't know what to do :(

Not that it helps you but you're not on your own, same here along with many others. I can't complain really as I'm on the VIP pack so didn't have to pay the extra £2.

mcmanic have you checked if ur ntl modem is ok with 20mb that maybe the reason dude and if connected via router check to see if your router is ok with 20 mb and keep checking ur speeds using the ftp gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk

Move down to the 2MB package, saving 17£ odd and in the mean time get BT out to give you a line and then pick a new ADSL provider who doesn't rip you off.

Vote with your feet and leave, it isn't going to get any better.

myn was crap for a few days then after a modem reboot its all good getting 2200KBPS now, try everything before u change to adsl, they are very crap in my area offering me 16mb+ when i can only get 4mb @ a push down that crapp phone line, and u'll be hard pushed to find one without a data cap! or they will have a very stricked far usage policy

goodluck!

my modem is the new ntl 255 and my router is linksys WRT54GS, its neither of them as i have for brief times seen the full 20meg, but as i said in most cases its worse than dailup in the evenings and 5/6 meg during the day. Its as if nearly all the time traffic shaping is left on 24/7. I cannot go with BT i have no phone line for a starter and live miles away from the exchange sadly. As i said i don't mind paying £37 if it works as expected, i paid £35 for the £10 for long enough, heck i even paid £50 when NTL was charging that much many moons ago, its just got to the point thats its really not worth the cash for a degrading service. If i didn't have access to the internet during the day at home i deffo would of cancelled this week, took me 10mins to stream a 2min argus video clip of my son at army training last night.

Why don't you downgrade your package to the 4mb and save yourself a little bit of cash! At the very least you will be getting what your paying for?
