View Full Version : Just been upgraded to 20mbit!
Logged on as per usual to download something from usenet and noticed that I was downloading at 2.24mbytes/s...kept my eye on it and now, 20 minutes later, im still going at that speed:D:D:D:);)
I have no idea why I have been upgraded (I did express an interest in the service when I called up retentions a few months back but nothing was made of it).
Anybody else with this upgrade?
Edit: Location - Manchester
what speed were you on before?
10mbit - upgraded in February from 2mbit
20 is a free upgrade for those on 10

Too slow, you should be getting 2.34MB/s* ;)
*joke (for the slow people :))
Can do you a good deal on a flameproof suit, Rik...........

Well that explains it :dunce:
Free*
*defined as £2 extra per month
(Can I borrow your flameproof suit after you Rik?)
£2 was for the XL package NOT the upgrade as people on 10meg are paying £37

After calling retentions advised that i was switching to SKY BB unless they could price match their price getting 20 meg for £15.99 for the now upgraded 20 meg package only down fall is have to call in every 3 months to have them apply this good will gesture as they call it :D:D:D
did you have any intention of going to sky or did you just call up to get it cheaper?

No intention of going to Sky no BT line but they dont know that i just kept saying i am a great customer pay my bills on time and if you cant price match SKY then what can you do for me as a retentions department they started with £10 off or something did not accept that just kept saying if you cant price match i am off to SKY and then they said OK as long as i call in every 3 months :-) try it you can only gain out of it .
Me, I wasnt bothered - If they lowered the price I was prepared to stay (that is why I called) but if they didnt lower the price, £26 was a ridiculous price to pay for 2mbit and I would have happily left. As it was, they reduced the total bill of £38 to £26 (other services) and improved the speed from 2mbit to 10mbit
What's the retentions number? I have every intention of cancelling the BB service tommorrow if the tech guy can't find anything wrong with the box or the line - slow is one thing, no i/net at all 1 or 2 days a week every week for last few months is just rubbish. And paying £37 for rubbish makes me the fool, not them. I'll be going back to the postcode lottery that is adsl I guess, but might as well see if retentions will do me the deal of the century to stay, and make me grit my teeth when the i/net conks out, knowing that I'm paying sod all for my ****e service.
