Can some one Ping, WinMTR or Tracert 212.250.14.86 for me as I don't seem to be able to get a repsonse.

How could I find out who owns this Host?

Is it part of the NTL network?

Can Virgin Media bypass it if it is down and if so how do I get them to do this?

Please help if you can!

it's part of ntl's network, whether it pings or not doesnt affect its ability to route traffic

I would guess they block pings

Why is it causing problems?

All my Clan Members including myself who are on NTL (now VM) are experiencing high ping in game.

Our game serve is
195.242.236.36

All of the Tracerts or WinMtr get no response from that server.

My previous post seem to show no other real problems.

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33616975-problems-in-the-dulwich-area.html

My ping seems fine on other servers as I do not pass through 212.250.14.86and users of our server who do not use NTL Backbone or have other ISP's are also fine. So I'm taking a wild guess that this is the problem.

As I'm not an expert, any thoughts would be appreciated?

I would guess they block pings

Why would they block Pings 212.250.14.86 when they allow you to Ping most of there other servers?

When I teacert to other servers I get a clean route an low ping, yet to this one I have a Blocked Host and High Ping.

I've tried everything my side so it must be VM side.

A bold statement you might say but when no one else has Ping issues in to our server unless they are VM users thsi must be the issue...

...surely?

Pulling my hair out here as I just got the complete run around from Support (again).

They said it is a problem with my PC (Idiots) despite my insistance that it wasn't, and that I should ring PC helpline. They refused to help me any further (13 minutes at 25p a minute).
So after humouring them and ringing PC helpline (at £1 a minute for 10 minutes) they said my PC was set up perfectly and the problem was likely to lie in the route that I was taking to the server and so I should ring back support.

Someone explain to me why we are customers of such and idiotic and bad service?

They are fine until there is a problem and then you might as well ring the Samaritans, it would probably be more help.

Where do I go from here?

If I have to sit through another support call, I'm going to hurt someone! I'd rather book a plane to India and club them all to death with my useless Virgin Modem.

All though we appear to have the last 5 hops, why would I get a No resposne for Host at Hop 9?

Were you downloading anything when you did that test?

seems from your tracerts that 212.250.14.86 is fine, the hop after isn't replying to the pings (again not a problem)

No, just doing the WinMTR test.

If I can't find a solution this week, I'm going to have to switch provider.

Call: 44 (0)1256 752000 and ask for High Level Complaints at the office of the CEO.

They should be able to help.

also try and contact INX-Gaming and ask them whats happening they might be able to get VM to look into it

Thanks guys for your help.

This morning the Ping is fine.

I'm sure this evening I will have a problem.

I beggining to think that I'm a victim of the traffic like so many others. I'm so angry with VM. I don't mind people having problems, but I judge people on how they solve them. In VM instance the reluctance to even admit there is an issue is not a good sign.

I'll keep you posted via this thread.
