Hi,

I am currently having problems with my Virgin media broadboard connection, after around 5 minutes after booting up my computer i am unable to connect to any websites what so ever (during the 5 minutes i can connect to any sites i want) but i can still connect to FTP servers, game servers, this has been happening since i re-installed Windows on thursdays.

I have tried 2 seperate connection (have to 2 broadbands connection for different computers) but the same thing happens.

I have also tried booting up in safe mode with networking enabled and the same issue occured, and also connecting using ethernet and a usb adapter.

Its also worth noting that i have done a full system virus can with avast! and have tried with and without COMODO Firewall Pro set up.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Any help you can give would be great, thanks.

Can you ping any web addresses ?,you could also try to browse by an ip address instead of url.

Hi,
Thanks for replaying.

I have just checked this out and i am still able to ping websites without any problems but i cannot connect to sites using just the ip address.

Also as an extra note when try to Repair my connect i get the message "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Clearing NetBT"

I saw this in another forum, which suggested running the following repair utility

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

- usual disclaimers apply, as I haven't tried it myself ...

If you can ping but not do more the problem *may* be DNS lookup.

I think I have been experiencing the same or similar issue but it has now fixed itself about 10minutes ago. :)
