If you mean news.cable.ntlworld.com, it appears OK for me in South Wales.

I am connected to news.virgin.net (which I believe is the same service - as is one with tesco in the address as well) without too much hassle. I use xnews as a news reader and noticed that it was failing to connect first time in the last 24 hours, but xnews automatically retries and gets in after a few tries and then stays connected. So you may have a local issue (I am in south manchester area)

I also have the same problem but can connect on news.virgin.com fine.
Although the speeds are nowhere near what the news.ntlworld.com could reach!

62.253.170.163 is offline for me
80.5.182.99 is online for me

the dns doesnt seem to be working so its pot luck which ip you get when using a named server. news.ntlworld.com ,news.cable.ntlworld.com etc
