Hi there.

I have a critical deadline Monday and my cable modem has apparently died.
(ready and sync lights not coming on)
No replacement until Tuesday! (which is not bad but does not help me this weekend.)

I still have my set-top box for TV and I am wondering if it will be possible to get this reconnected to solve the problem temporarily.

(Ironically it was still connected until very recently, when I realised I was being charged double after getting my cable modem!)

Would be really grateful to anyone who can offer any solutions.:(

What makes you think your modem has died? It may well be a temporary outage that will be fixed in a short while. :)

If it was a tempory outage the sync light would be flashing trying to sync goes steady when its got a connection.

are you getting any lights?
if so you could try wiggling the connection
if not try wiggling the power connector and seeing if you get any lights (also feel to see if it's warm).

Best thing you could hope for is to piggy back on an open wifi connection.

Or go and ask a neighbour to borrow their connection to send the file.

Or go and ask a neighbour to borrow their connection to send the file.

Or if it's that important and it's work related (which you gave no indication of) then pay for a business service and get the support that goes with it.
