Connection Problems

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I'm with Virgin Media and I'm having problems connecting to the internet. The thing is, some websites are fine, like hotmail, bbc, obviously this site!!, etc are fine, but some websites (eg Bebo, Download.com, PC World, etc to name only a few I have tried) just time out and don't connect.

When I use a proxy, my computer connects to these websites fine. Does anyone know what the problem is? Do I have a virus?

Do you have a virus? Only you can find that out with an uptodate checker. good luck

it means you need to use the proxy for now ;)

If you are somewhere in Edinburgh or the surrounding area http://status2.virginmedia.com/vmstatus/serviceissue.do?ticket=482088 could help. I've been troubleshooting this morning and found that using a different router will give you a different IP address and thus give you a different set of site that you cannot access.
