ok so tried to talk to the ppl at virgin and apart from pi**ing me off he argued with me telling me i was wrong about my signal levels.

Every 10 mins or so if im doing anything that requires more bandwidth than just browsing a page, i get timed out. 30 seconds or so later the internet is back on and fine agen.
no problems regards speed i can get 450+kbps on download so thats fine for my 4mb.
anyways hope someone can help
Im in LS6 area of Leeds West Yorkshire old NTL area.

So knowing that my signal levels are wrong I.E. Downstream Power level. was hoping that someone has had the same problems and had it resolved if so how you go about it. Everytime i ring up i just get a brain dead woman in Pakistan and i can never get any where with them. im unable to play online games and downloading things that take longer than 10mins is impossible without using BitTorrent.
Hope all details r there that u need and hope sum1 knows wot the problem is and if they will bother sorting it as according to Virgin the modem is "working fine".

cheer in advance

if -4dbvm is good can any one explain the drops cause this happens all the time and makes it impossible to play online games

also ive got 16076 counts of "Critical(3) 84000100 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/Q..."
WTF is that surly this must be a problem.

Not sure but every now and then my Internet has been stopping completely during 9-5pm. Not sure how long for as I usually switch to ADSL when it happens.

it not like im being throttled or anything cos its happening all the time and it only goes off for about 20-30 seconds then everything comes back.
The problem is that VM say its all fine at there end looking at the modem, which i still think is wrong, but they wont send out anyone to have a look and we cable works it is good, just dont work for me rite now :(

Bring bk NTL

Presumably you have tried powering down everything and then powering up in the correct order?

yea tried all the simple things
i.e. powerin down n back up agen
reseting everything
checked and dissabled all firewalls

nothing seems to work it still keeps timing out this has been going on for over a month now and its not at certain times its all the time

until a few days ago my downstream signal power level was -8dbvm
did a little rewiring took a splitter out and now the signal is @ -4dbvm
now im sure the signal needs to be between 0 - 5dbvm to be a good signal this is just what ive read on other sites.
Tho talking to VM they say its reading +4dbvm so im sure something is wrong here tho im just not sure
ne1 got ne ideas???

was one outside splitting it to upstairs reason unbeknown to me as they only 1 box and thats downstairs.
but after all it turns out its the router as its a "sitecom" ive read it to do with how much they update the DNS or summot.

still a strange problem but nevertheless ive now got a long ass wire running to the top of the house for now till i get a newe router :S ahhh well
back to the good ol netgear ;)

Your levels are fine .It could be the power supply to the modem have you ever had the modem swapped ?Ambit 250 power supply wil have oem written on them . Do you know off anyone in the same street as you having problems.

not sure if im making myself clear or not
NTL Modem no problems
Sitecom router causing problems think it updates too much or something

Now works fine with direct ethernet to my pc
