Same in AL2. Most sites not loading, strangely downloads working full speed for a change!

DNS issues, try a proxy, PIA I know, 56k loads pages faster when that happens, if the pages dont time out that is.

Also in the AL4 area, very limited connectivity, slow speeds and can only get on a selected few sites. Connections to France and Germany seem fine however there is very little connectivity to many parts of USA from my end.

I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with the NTL branded greenbox that has been forced open just around the corner from me (Barnfield Road/Sandpit Lane).

Anyone got any info out of Virgin about the issue?

YOU should really do that yourself, if you know there is a Green Box lying wide open FFS give them a call, esp if its in your area and affecting you, I know for a fact they will come out A.S.A.P to it.

They have been out before....its been reported before, its been like it for around 8 months, how nobody has ripped out the cables until now I don't know. I'm not going to phone their premium rate support if they cant be bothered to simply come and put as new lock on the door!

Hmm, the call is free on 150 and use menus

I'm guessing 150 is for Virgin phonelines only, correct? I am on BT for the phone.

BTW I passed on the above Green Box issue but due to lack on info cant do much, the woman on the free call to 150 option 3 then 3 told me its a fault and to tell you to freephone faults using same menu system and give more details of area, she stated it will not be India you will talk to.

Edit, I can get you a free number from any landline 1min.

Edit2, Can only get this and its a local number:

Faults & Broadband support
If you are calling from a BT or other landline: 0845 454 1111
If you are calling from a Virgin Media landline: 151 (FREE)

As its not your fault ask them for a credit towards your next bill, they will probably give you £5 or £10 for your help.

Well that was a waste of time. Got put through to india (Aka land of the worst support in the world) who tried giving me instructions to do a tracert, however when I told them I use a mac I got a simple "Oh...I dont know what to do then" followed by a "We dont know whats wrong but lots of people keep phoning about it".

He gave me an estimated time though...1 day to 1 week before it will be fixed...Now, until today I've stood up for NTL/VM....but now I've gone back to the oppinion I had a few years ago...they suck, period.

Yeah when I said about the box being open he just said "Oh we know about that, its been like it for ages"...thats how much they care...

My friend in Scunthorpe (Lincolnshire) is having the same problems...its not a localized issue...it looks like its nationwide.

AL4 - back up at full speed...total time of problem: about 5 hours.

Do VM give money back for downtime?
