how do you login to an STB modem?
You don't, pageup, pagedown, blue used to take you to the info screen. May still work.

nope that doesn't work since the virgin epg update but it still shows all the same info in tech stuff on the settings menu as it did when you used the up down blue thing before. plus i can use the log in my router as well. i was just wondering if i could get on the modem from the computer and as you've said i can't
so paul is there eny way to see the configuration files

Should one leave the root/root unchanged?
Does this leave you vulnerable in any way if it remains as default?
My router setup beyond the CM has a strong password so I'm not too worried about that. Was just wondering if changing the CM password would break anything from the Virgin side.
Inquiring minds and all that...

Having an IP address of 192.168.100.1 for the cable modem - does this mean static IP addresses of my home network also have to be in the 192.168.100.xxx range too?
I'm due to get a standalone modem replacement for my STB. With the STB, I have my WAN router connected to it. My router has an IP address in the rang 192.168.0.xxx, as do the static IP addresses of PCs on my network.
Can I still use the same static IP addresses for my network?
Thanks in advance.
Your router will get an IP from the modem, and you can use whatever private range on the inside network that you like :)
