When you switched hardware did you power everything off including the modem? Do your speeds return if you remove the router?

Try it and see, if the speeds return then it's a router issue and possibly nothing more than a factory reset to cure.

ok so i jus disconnect and put modem back to normal set up?ethernet obviosuly not back to usb do i need to power off while disconnecting router or ne thing?the router works fine on xobox no trouble could it still be the router making the pc play up?

Always power all equipment off (shutdown PC) when changing the connections, then change the connections, power up the modem, wait for the lights to lock and settle, power up the PC. If you have a router in the line up then power up the router 2nd, wait for it to finish initialising and settle and then power up the PC.

Do you have the little double monitor icon in the bottom right corner? If you double click that it brings up info about your connection.

Hey there daio, I had problems with my router connecting to MSN when I first bought it.. Check the router settings for a UPnP setting (Universal plug and play), that setting got my MSN working great with the router .. Hope this helps.

Daio, what is the model number of the router? Once we have that it will be easier to help you.

Hold the reset button on the router for 10 seconds. It's probably on the back and will require a pin or other small object to push.
