Do these work on 20mbps?

Can anyone let me know the IP address to access the web system for it?

http://192.168.100.1

Login and password both root.

My ntl100 was replaced as it couldn't cope with 10meg.

Beat me to it. You've certainly been upgraded to 20meg, what do speed tests say?

the speed tests are a bit, well, unreliable...

1 says 6mbps, the next will go up to 14, but most seem well under 10...examples:

Overall Average Speed = approx 11758 Kbps, 11.48 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 9068 Kbps, 8.85 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 8786 Kbps, 8.58 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 10802 Kbps, 10.55 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 7266 Kbps, 7.1 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 7045 Kbps, 6.88 Mbps

Call VM, tell them your modem does not handle the speed you are paying for and ask them to send a replacement modem to you to self install.

tried that yesterday, and got fobbed off - was told that the modems would handle the speed no problem...

Call back and talk to someone that knows what they are on about, the older modems DO NOT handle 20Mbps which is why you can ask for the new one to be sent out on a self install or pay for an engineer to upgrade it.

Paul is right, they DO NOT handle 20mbps. I had mine swapped when I got upgraded from 3mbps to 10mbps because it couldn't handle it

VM on Monday are due to post on their website a guide to which modems will require to be upgraded. It will be interesting to see what makes the list......

Just ring up and if they say no point them to their own website
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/existingcustomers/q2/speed.html
where it says the upgrade is free
If you're already a Broadband XL customer your modem may require an upgrade. From May 14th you will be able to view all cable modems currently on the Virgin Media network. From there you will easily be able to tell which modems we recommend for upgrade and which will be fine!

Do I need a new modem?
Depending on the modem you already have we may recommend that you upgrade it so you can take full advantage of the speed increase. We will be putting some simple questions on our site on 14th May 2007 that will help us work out if you need a new modem. If you do, we can get one ordered for you. If you do need to order some new kit, we'll post it out and you can swap it over yourself (using the Quickstart guide that comes in the box). Or you can you can ask for one our team to come in and swap it over for you. This will cost just £25.

got a new modem winging it's way to me...

according to the guy i am talking to now the woman i spoke to last night didn't have a clue what she was doing...!

isn't it nice to get someone who knows what they are talking about, and who is honest...

Like I said call back and talk to someone that knows what they are on about. Communication relies on people listening and quite obviously some CS/TS staff just do not pay attention when told things.

lol...that is so right!

the guy mentioned something called Blue Tools as well, and said if she had opened that up it would have told her straight away whether the modem needed replacing or not...

Some of them just don't bother doing things as they "think" they know more than they actually do. Personally if the tools are there to be used I would rather use them than look a prat.

How come I have the exact same infrmation when I login to my NTL home 100 modem when I am in fact on 2meg and not 20 Meg.
Or does everyone have the same as this on their page ?

Count the zeros at the end of your Maximum Downstream Data Rate figure- three or four?

Ah Yes you are right.
Look's like I woke up too early today and didn't see it.
Thanks for clearing that up. :tu:
