Can somebody tell me why VM does not use this (http://www.verisign.com/products-services/security-services/pki/pki-application/cable-modem-services/cable-modem-authentication/page_001468.html) to stop cable modem cloning? Ambit does not have to buy verisign certificates, they can make their own ones for free (multiply two prime numbers), so it's almost free... And do not tell me that CISCO can detect cloning ;)
I understand that you cannot certify the current modems, and certification cannot be of use in the current "mixed" situation but one has to start somewhere. They could ask Ambit to make the next generation >50Mbs modems certified...
Could the same technology get used for the STBs?
