I've just been advised that if I want 20mb (I pay for it) then I need a new modem which will cost me £25. I only rent the equipment so why am I to pay £25 for something that does not belong to me?

you can ask for a self install and that will be free then the 25 quid is for an engineer to come and install it

I asked staff accounts about that put me on hold for 15 minutes then said they know nothing about it.

I work with the by guys and girls. They can't order me one apparently. I got India there who transfered me to CMC who said "Staff accounts" and hung up.

You just need to assert yourself a bit more me thinks.

Get back on that phone and tell them to get the bloody modem sent out or they can take a hyke......if you get a p45 through the post come next week then you`ll know you you overdid it;)

I just called (non staff) and got an engineer booked for Thursday to change my modem for free...

Maybe it depends on who you get?

i got my 255 for free, just told my guy in Luton to get me one, he asked head honcho installer guy who then just wanted an address to book the modem out. My m8 then posted it to me, installed myself then phoned up CS asked to changed the mac address to this one, job done in 5 mins
