This thread is for positive feedback (I guess this is wishful thinking)

If you want to rant about the recent Traffic Shaping/Throttling that VM has imposed then rant here >>> http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33613264-traffic-shaping-affecting-all-tiers-page-22.html

What I want to find out is how many of you are noticing a more fluid (latent) internet connection.

I'm sitting here on a Friday evening witnessing pings of 12-15ms the likes of which I haven't seen in a good long while without any spikes.

Very nice indeed albeit at the expense of being 'over' shaped though

What do you think ? Or maybe this should be a poll ?

Never had much of a issue with mine anyway. The only problem i ever had was when the papworth ubr was messed up for 4MB users. They stuck me on 10MB for 4MB price and its been great.

Have they started this in Belfast? This is the first evening in months were a 10meg line has gone above 2meg :-) Could be coincidence though. 9meg a second and I'm happy :-)

Out of interest, have any of you got a steam account, or anybody else on this forum for that matter?

Wrong place for this mate, try the gaming section ;)

CrC tonight, it's actually been worse... Higher pings and slower speeds:
Fri, 04 May 2007 20:49:09 GMT

1st 512K took 27281 ms = 18.8 KB/sec, approx 155 Kbps, 0.15 Mbps
2nd 512K took 22219 ms = 23 KB/sec, approx 190 Kbps, 0.19 Mbps
3rd 512K took 23531 ms = 21.8 KB/sec, approx 180 Kbps, 0.18 Mbps
4th 512K took 18188 ms = 28.2 KB/sec, approx 232 Kbps, 0.23 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 189 Kbps, 0.19 Mbps

This may of course be completely unrelated, but a month ago I was lucky to get 2 meg in the evening (I'm on 4 meg), while it was fine during the day. For the last two weeks or so, my connection has gone back to rock solid: 3.8 Meg-ish. If this is due to shaping, it gets my vote :)

I've always had 10mbit without problems. Traffic shaping isn't effecting me at the moment.

I think the traffic shaping will help the network but I dont mind if I have to download alittle slower I just leave my pc on anyways and the torrents only have a few seeds so I never get over 200kB/s

I've not got a problem with the traffic shaping limits for XL users - a very good idea, if you ask me.

However, I'm very concerned about the amount of us paying for the service and currently getting constant speeds of between 100kbps and 500kbps, as Druchii has just posted. I've been getting 450kbps for about a week.

1st 128K took 2484 ms = 52767 Bytes/sec = approx 439 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 2594 ms = 50529 Bytes/sec = approx 420 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 3140 ms = 41743 Bytes/sec = approx 347 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 2516 ms = 52095 Bytes/sec = approx 433 kbits/sec

If it was ten times that, I might be a little less bothered... but that just isn't good enough.

Haven't really had an issue if I don't upload anything. Soon as I do, web-browsing sucks but overall speed is ok.
