My connection has been rubbish for a year now. I'm on the 4meg service and currently getting it half price but that ends this month.

The engineer came out (I think it was in October) and said there was nothing he could do because the whole area was oversubscribed.

The speed is worse than it has ever been. This morning I took the computer downstairs to connect it directly to the modem just to make sure it was nothing to do with my wireless router.

This is Robin Walker's speed test:

And this is Dan Elwell's speed test thing:

These tests were 5am/6am - imagine what it's like at "busy" times.

Pings & packet loss, download and upload are all abysmal. I will get on the phone to try and renew my half price internet but, really, I would much rather have a connection that worked properly.

(For those that followed my tales of woe last year, you will be aware that BT engineers tested my old BT line and said that the line was poor quality and I wouldn't get a decent speed - so dumping VM and going back to BT broadband isn't an option.)

I'm just getting more and more p*ssed off with everything and just want a decent service. Is there anything I can do or say to customer services that might get someone to take me seriously?

These issues have been posted in this thread: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33612723-stoke-on-trent-st3-slow.html

Other than that, keep pestering them. Request that they drop the price or you're jumping ship. Quote: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/images/masthead/customer.jpg

Try out a Linux Live CD to double check you have no malware or virii using bandwidth.

Also, how're your modem levels? http://192.168.100.1 (username/password = root).
