I've Seen speed tests done here with speedtest.net so thought I'd try it to compare with the one i usually use: http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

12 tests over 3 days:

speedtest.net average (Dublin): ping 83ms 8604 / 713

speedtest.net average (London): ping 22ms 8848 / 697

compare this with

Broadbandmax uk speedtest : 13461 / 729

I'm in Manchester using a Webstar DPX100 (upgraded from Surfboard 3 years ago)

I can hear the file rattling being prepared by bbmax so i don't think it's cacheing and resolves to London

Sooooo.. crappy java script on speedtest.net or the fact that it bounces through NY, Chicago, Denver & Seattle :Yikes:

Anyways 2 Questions:
Where do I go to see if I need a modem upgrade for the new 20mb service
and
Why would you wanna use speedtest.net at all

VM should insert a new package BB XL and whatever else with it that DOESN'T cost a testicle per month ;)

You don't need a modem upgrade
And I have no idea why anyone would use speedtest.net
bbmax is clearly better, though I wouldn't rely on any of them.

Downloading Linux iso would give you a better speed test.
