All,

Quick Q:

Does anyone know how to reset and NTL:200 Silver modem to factory defaults? I tried to change the pw from root/root to root/mypassword and now it doesn’t want to let me in to the admin panel...

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

i don't think you can, best to give Virgin a call.

Why oh why did you think that changing anything in the modem page was going to be a good idea? You should not change anything at all in those pages as they are not there for you to use in all honesty. Now you are going to have to call VM and try to explain why you messed about in it and ask them if they can hard reset it from their end.

Have you tried root/root?

Funny I have same issue and yet I know I have never ever ever ever changed anything, yet no matter what case of root/root I use it won't let me in..

Some modems need rebooting before they allow access, also make sure no proxy is set on the browser.

Nope no proxy tried IE7 and FF, nothing...no major for me, but I am due a new modem if my ntl:200 won't handle 20mb.

Thanks for replies, you would have thought VM would have disabled the change pw option tbh

Thanks anyway

its probably only through this forum that the root/root password was given.its purely a diagnostic tool for the techs who visit you when you have problems, otherwise why the need to password protect it,whoever gave out this password in the first place needs a kicking!!!

Yea agreed...

It's just a bit annoying as i won't be able to tell for certain now if the new config is loaded that's all :(

Modem still works thou...

Moral of the story is DON'T CHANGE THE DEFAULT PASSWORD ON A NTL:200 MODEM :)

Mine is so old that the dafualt user/pass is not root, root, but admin, admin (Ambit NTL:Home 100 I think)
