Just the 10.
Nothing to say that the others won't be changed sometime in the future.

ah well...i really cant complain about my 4 meg connection, seems to run just fine. Get a bit of a ping fluctuation around 7 pm, but i guess thats cause more people are using it then.

Though i was hoping that since 10 is going to 20, they would move the 4 to 10  just cause most other providers are now giving out "up to" 8 megs as their standard...even if it is with a download limit...and a distance limit  .

I doubt the 2 and 4 megs will be upgraded... A lot (like myself) are going through STBs which max out at about 5. So a blanket upgrade would cost a lot of money sending out engineers and extra modems for all the STB users, with no real extra monthly income.

i was told on sunday that my 4 would soon be 10, it was supposed to happen in may but now maybe july! this was by someone in sales as i was enquiring about the xltv pack.

I hope if that's true, they manage the transition better. I was on 3 meg when it went to 10... and having an STB made the connection extremely erratic. I had to drop down to 2/4 meg to make it usable.

Hopefully the modems will be upgraded instanteously, and they'll stagger out the SACM installs to match the speed... Otherwise i'll have to go down to 2 meg until I get a SACM :(

They can't send the SACMs out through the post can they?

My 4meg connection went up to 10, so I phoned them. They said it was an automatic upgrade, no extra charge, and it would be going up to 20 when that was rolled out.
So I mentioned I'd only got an old SB4100 modem. No problem they said. We'll be out next Tuesday to swap it for free.

Happy ? You bet I am. :)

So they gave you a free upgrade from Broadband L to XL, doesn't sound right to me

Did you upgrade your TV package to XL perchance?

It seems that the VM call centres think that 2Mb will get upgraded to 4Mb and 4Mb upgraded to 10Mb but there has been no confirmation or press release about it.

A post on the newsgroup suggested 2 going to 5, 4 to 10 and 10 to 20.

Well with talks about 50mb bbi being rolled out by the end of the yr/begining of next yr, it looks like it may be 10 / 20 /50 :)

so is that mean we going to need new modem or ntl:250 will work fine ?

The ntl:250 is capable of 20Mb. :)

the 250 can only handle if memory serves me, is 40Meg+

So a new modem will be needed when 50meg comes out.

I was told by an VM agent that 120meg is being looked into.

Without sounding rude it seems like VM Customer Care/Sales are just giving out any figures at the moment, we are getting 50MEG/100MEG and now 120MEG LOL!!

Next we will be told that we are getting 1GIG next year ;)

Have to agree with you Rik, whilst I would normally defend VM on their ability to deliver better modem speeds, they really need to reign in their CS/Sales staff with their "plucked out of the air" figures.

We know for a fact that 50MB is being publically trialled right now, and that VM have tested 100MB in lab conditions, but I have to wonder what is to be gained by touting any old figure when the current speeds on offer should be sufficient to attract the ordinary punter like you and me.

Sorry to have to correct you, but I just hate it when people say B as b. There are eight bits to the Byte, just to clarify. And B is Byte, whereas b is bit. The service being provided is measured in bits, not bytes. ;)
