Hi folks hoping for some advice

I have just come across an old NTL digital box that i took with me when i moved house 3 years ago. My services were cancelled a few months before i moved.
I recently got telewest digital tv installed (wks before the rebranding to virgin) with a box upstairs in my daughters room, and an ariel down stairs without a box, which i use for channels 1-5.

Would the old NTL box work if i connected it to the ariel downstairs? I have tried it, it boots up and a message appears saying no channels available, check connections etc.

Is there a way to get it working? use it as a freeview box? or is it for the bin?

thought i would check i havent missed something before giving up with it.

Thanks

Attempting to use the box without subscription is Illegal as the box is the property of Virgin (NTL).
I suspect this thread will be closed soon

The box won't work. If you want two boxes, you need to pay for them.

Won't work, sorry.

It would need to be registered & activated by VM & have a valid smartcard paired to it.

Also wouldn't be any use connected to a normal aerial socket anyway.

Plus, I'm not sure if an ex-ntl box would work in an ex-Telewest area.

If you want more than one box, you have to get the Virgin equivalent of a "Multiroom" subscription. Not sure how much it costs though.
