You don't need the broadband disc unless you plug into the modem via USB.

If you want the Virgin Media website as your homepage. Go www.virginmedia.com and click Set as my homepage on the right-hand side.

As Nikesh says, you do not need the disc unless you connect via USB whereby you get the USB modem drivers off the disc.
If you connedct via ethernet, you do not need it.

Any page can be set as your homepage.
In Internet Explorer, pointing to the tools menu and then selecting options, will show you which page is currently set as your homepage and allow you to change it.

You can also download USB drivers for your particular modem here:

I've never been sent an install disc in all the years I've been surfing, since Diamond Cable!! Go Ethernet as you don't need any disc to get your connection working, provided the MAC Address of your modem has been entered in their system of course!

Reading the threads so far, the advice given is sound, I.e, you don't require drivers for your modem unless you're using the USB connection.

You haven't specified how you are/have connected your modem to your PC but (given a choice) I would always plumb for the option of using a network interface card (NIC). Firstly It frees up a useful USB port and secondly it's easier to set up.

But that's my preference - you may feel differently. You may also find this site (URL originally provided via a Telewest engineer) useful:
