Hi I think this is the same sort of problem as players of WoW have been experiencing.

Random loses of connection during peak times this is a tracert to the server everything else works ok (Teamspeak and Ventrilo)

Tracing route to 87.237.38.200 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 15 ms 9 ms 9 ms 10.143.68.1
2 9 ms 32 ms 7 ms blfs-t2cam1-b-v109.inet.ntl.com [213.105.206.169
3 10 ms 31 ms 10 ms blfs-t2cam1-a-v99.inet.ntl.com [213.105.207.9]

10 22 ms 46 ms 25 ms 87.237.38.199
11 43 ms 53 ms 23 ms 87.237.38.200

Trace complete.

I'm not sure how to read the modem signal levels as i have a "NTL 250" modem but i think the SNR is a bit high

Downstream Receive Power Level : 0.7 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 41.2 dB

Upstream transmit Power Level : 47.0 dBmV

DO you think that it's the QAM256 update affecting the modem or is there a fault on the cable and I need the signal levels checked or am I just insane and there isn't an issue with the modem and therefore it's eve online at fault ???

signal levels look fine. SNR- the higher the better.

It is more likely to be a routing issue if it is only affecting one server, if it was a signal or modem problem then it would affect all of your browsing/ downloads etc.

Is that a traceroute to the server you play on?

Only way to fix it is to warp scramble Customer support and then pound them with drones and heavy NOS till they pop.

Dont even ransom their pods, just pop them one by one. :D

If it's the same as the wow problem (30 second lag spikes and random disconnects) then it's nothing to do with your end.

VM are stating the Warcraft problem lies with Blizzards isp (Telia) not supplying them with enough bandwidth. From your trace, it doesn't appear that Eve is hosted on Telia's network so it might be a separate issue.

Personally, I hope it is the same issue! If more and more people experience the degradation of service then maybe VM will get their finger out of their *ss and try and facilitate a solution!
