I tried a speed test and the up load speed is madness

SEE, lol
Now do i jsut leave it, i dont mind the fast upload speed but i dont want it to kill my cable modem

But i think i have a problem, my ISP is NTL but when i do

looking at the screenshot, the ISP is showing as JANET...that is the Universities network (see http://www.ja.net/ for more info). If you were on JANET then you would more than likely get the following:
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/results.php?t=1173709033&v=897084
which is the results as I get them at work within Uni.

Just ran the speedtest here at Uni, and the ISP show as my Universities name so I'm not sure what JANET NOSC is referring to in your screenshot...

OK, so had a quick google for JANET NOSC and it is indeed related to JANET, is is their Network Operations and Service Centre apparently...why you are showing up as being connected to them though I have no idea! What is your geographical location as that may shed some light on things...

Upload doesn't quite seem right, but download seems more reasonable - although still around half of what you should be getting. Maybe Virgin are trialling a synchronous service (ok, bit of a pipedream!).

Look for these two lines on your cable modem config pages 192.168.100.1 and post back here what they read:

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000

Also check that your browser cache is empty before running any more tests.

http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/results.php?t=1173716444&v=897773 is more like what you should be getting on 10Mb.

JA.NET uses the same backbone as NTL/VirginMedia so something is going on there, but what gets me is how the modem isnt stopping the high speeds with its config file...
