View Full Version : Connect another cable modem?
My friend has just got Sky BB and gave me his old ntl cable modem. My own cable modem is connected to my pc and I was thinking of hooking up his spare directly to my xbox360(instead of buying a router and adapter) downstairs which is next to the stb by splitting the signal.
Will the modem work and is it even allowed?

no it won't work, VM only provide for 1 IP address per connection - you'll need a router if you want to use your xbox & a cable modem together :)

Actually, If his cable modem was still being paid for then it would work. WhenI was trialling some broadband speed for ntl they gave me a new modem. Plugged it in on a splitter to the tv connection and had both running nicely. Of course both modems need to be paid for.
Ok thanks...well he's cancelled his service. Tried it anyway and it didn't work so I'm gonna throw it out.
