Total £591.96 :erm:

This is scary looks like extra hours at the office. But I still think for the money I'm getting a lot. Especially as I have a HD LCD and amp. Why spend the money on those iteams with using them to the max?

Roll on March 23rd. :D

Total £591.96 :erm: :D

:Yikes:

An insane price when you can get a 360, a Pioneer HTPGS1 surround sound amp with speakers and a Wii for the same price.

You are aware of all the bad press the ps3 has received aint ya. ?

1. On an offical Sony PSP site they posted a banner advertising GT4 HD

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2007/03/37.jpg

When in all honesty, it was PGR 3 on the 360, original pic can be found here (http://www.bizarrecreations.com/games_img/pgr3/pgr313_full.jpg). Sony was very quick to pull the banner of there site but we were quick to spot there blunder.

2. Giving into temptation and admitting defeat, giving Gears of War a full back page glossy of advertising space on PSM3. :D
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/01/psm3feb2k7.jpg

Full article here (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/01/26/psm-readers-just-give-in-and-buy-gow/)

3. The shocking inability to get scaling working correctly on PS3 making HD on the console a pain in the behind. Im not sure if this has been fixed yet, but most people here will know what I mean.

Not to mention the graphics comparisons over at Gamespot (http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6162742/index.html?sid=6162742&click=topslot) and talks of the UK model not being as backwardly compatiable as the us and jap models of the PS3.

If all this is fine with your goodself, then I hope you enjoy your expensive purchase. :)

Those peole that have 360s dont worry sell them it will cost a lot less for you PS3.

Why do you want a Blue Ray player though? Bit pointless at the moment really.

What a waste of money considering that it's been slagged off so much for the quality of games and the lack of dual shock and the fact that it's graphics chip isn't as good as the 360's when it comes to textures, meaning you get more jaggies and lower quality textures too. I would of bought genuine controllers though, as they're always far better than third party ones.

But if you bought it for a blu ray player i guess it might be worth it, but personally i'd of just got a HD DVD xbox 360 player for £129 as i believe you can use this with a PC as well as with a £150 Xbox 360.

How have Sony released a better PS2? Yes, the new ones are smaller, but have the specs changed in any way?

Revising the design of a product while it's being sold is standard business practice, and has always been done. Usually to reduce prices.

No, but the slimline ones are better to say v1 of the ps2 as now they dont have an annoying heat problem. :)

Well, it's your money to spend as you see fit. Who are we to say what you should buy? Personally, I wouldn't pay that kinda money for one (as I see Sony forcing a BR player on gamers when it's not necessary, which bumps up the price too high for a games console, imo... all so that they win the next-gen war over HD-DVD)

I was in Swindon town centre today and saw a lot of stores guaranteeing Launch Day consoles. Not sure if this is testament to Sony's anticipation of demand and providing plentiful stock unlike MS & Nintendo did on their launch days, or if it's because people aren't reserving them like they did the 360 & Wii.

Silly question - Why bother purchasing a blu ray (and an overpriced blu ray) player over a hd player, as the blu ray format uses mpeg 2 compression which is old technology anyway.

what about the dvds on the 1st ps2 the one on the silver one and the slimline are much better and the slimline one is a rip off in its self because the standard ps2 multitap does connect you need the slimline one yet just another rip off from sony so i ask this question do you think you get value for money from sony HMMMM think about it

i wont never by another console i'll stick with my super p.c thats cost me 500 quid and i can do alot more than the ps2/3 can ever offer me

Is the PS3 all that ?

I'm not into consoles but started looking at them the other day and really think that the Wii is a winner with its innovative gameplay sticks or whatever they are (pity the graphics suck). Hope it catches on !

Or you can take a look at these sites if you're totally fed up

Well he seems to think its the best thing since sliced bread...however other members of the public seem to think otherwise as up here in manchester there are loads of shops where they are begging people to pre-register to get one on launch day...but the public here are not having it. Was a different story with the Wii and oh wait whats that console he seems to slag off all the time...ah yes the 360.

Enjoy your purchase, as I am sure buyers remorse will set in the moment you plug the thing in :)

Im no fan of Sony, don't get me wrong, and I think that the multitaps are a rip off anyway. I just made the point that it is normal practice for companies to improve products after release.

As much as it pains me to stick up for a Sony format, but Blu-ray supports MPEG2, MPEG4 part 10 (aka AVC aka H.264), & VC-1 (the MS-developed rival to AVC)... just like HD DVD does.

While HD DVDs have used the excellent VC-1 right from the start, the initial Blu-ray Discs released used MPEG2... rather a waste of all the extra space that BDs have...

However, they are now, mostly, using VC-1 AFAIK.

Ethernet built in, ability to play dvdr. I did not get a 1st gen ps2 but my slimline one plays dvd's better than my stand alone player. The pic quality is awesome.

yep , i agree , it was aweful, and the reason you can not get a stand alone br player for that price is they will be much higher quality , as a stand alone dvd player is compared to the original ps2 dvd drive ;) ,
having said that , i hope you enjoy your new cosole skunk i'm just happy i will be playing the same games as you (apart from a few), the same quality , having spent no where near as much money ;)

I was a sony loyalist until recently...
They got no respect for us whatsoever!
They make us wait longer than the rest of the world,
Expect us to have an inferior model to everyone else
And expect us to pay more than anyone else in the process,
I'd rather get a wii, much better value for money
