It depends, how far are you from the transmitter ?

Punch your postcode into this (http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe?), and it will tell you how far away you are, and which is your nearest transmitter.

Bear in mind though, there can be other factors that can interfere with a good signal.

with being in central london tv aereil's can be a pain due to the high building around. u may have a choice of what transmitter u can use depends on where u are.

Crystal Palace is the main 1 for london u best bet would to pester the company who maintains it to get u wired up to the cummunal system.

or to play with find a argos and if it dont work u can always take it back if u do go the route Crystal Palace will come under a A group if u wish to go for any other transmitter then u will need a wideband

if u goto argos http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10651&langId=-1&searchTerms=aerial&go.x=15&go.y=12

u can get a aerial and see if u can get ur freeview to work if u cant u can take it back within 16 days.

but this would be better
somewhere in ur flat will be a wall socket for ur cummunal digital aerail if there isnt call up who ever u rent from and tell them u want connected to it the landlord has a duty to provide each flat with atleast 1 way to recive digital signals

do u know how old the system is in ur building

iain the aerial is not that old maybe a couple of years at the most. i tried my box in a neighbours flat and it worked. the reason i still think i am connected to ntl virgin media is that up to wed i was getting chanel 5 and sky 1 since today sky 1 has been replaced with hallmark. yes i have a socket in the wall. i have 2 aereil sockets in my flat and neither of them will let me get freeview. i spoke to the landlords and they say for me to get a picture i must be connected/ virgin media swear blind i have been dissconnected a friend next door has ntl and a few days ago i had no tv for a few hours and she told me ntl had a prolem at that time cause she also didnt have any tv.
