Sadly standards in the is forum has dropped. It has been over 2 weeks and no roumours have been started about connection speed upgrades. So I have decided to start one. :naughty:

I bet that 20mbit will be rolled out within the next 3 months.

So when do you think the next connection upgrade will be?

Maybe standards are dropping, useless threads like this don't help anyone or anything :afire:

OK, No use criticizing this post, might as well try to answer the Q

How about they try and get 10 meg working across the board first?

Maybe 20Mb will get launched/upgraded this quarter as 50Mb was supposed to but isn't going to now.

im quite happy with 10meg as long as it keeps working this well! (in my area of course)

They are still testing 20MB in places.

How about they try and get 1 meg working? I'm currently getting sub 56K speeds every day, often for hours on end.

Are they?

2008/2009 earliest. Like I've said countless times before, how do they expect to provide stable 20Mbit connections when they can barely provide stable 2Mbit connections?

Don't really see the point in more download speed. 10Mb is more than sufficient for me and I'm guessing everyone else. It's very fast when working well. (although not in all areas apparently)

More upload speed would be of benefit to me, quite happy to stay with 10Mb down for now, 20 or 50Mb don't impress me, I want more upload bandwidth.

Cheers

I think they'll go rather mad, and offer free 3-month upgrades to 50mb for all customers that call to complain in the latter half of this year, at which point we'll see UBRs melting down country wide and speeds reversing back to the days of my first 33.6k voicefax modem.

If not, then maby they'll just roll out 50mb as a new tier by early 08 and leave existing speeds as-is, until the likes of BT and Sky can provide 16mb+ stable to those people who live a fair distance from the exchange.

Ofc, I could be completely wrong, it has happened before.

The thing that ticks me off is £25 for 4mbit, when there are others out there offering up to 24mbit for the same price (up to = ~9.5mbit in my street according to some calls to UKOnline and BeThere.co.uk)

So im just looking for at least a small speed boost and/or a price cut. A sensible tier upgrade which is completely within Virgin's reach would be:

2mb -> 3mb
4mb -> 8mb
10mb -> 14MB

20Mb would be awesome as it would show they are not still in the stone age, but it's been ages since the last upgrade and the current speeds are going a little stale (especially so for Tier 1 & 2).

Considering Britain is the "inventors country" it's kinda embarassing were not up there with Sweden and Japan's speeds. Not as if it's a huge networking infrastructure (in comparison).

Yep, I replied to that post too.

My guesses are terrible - that's why I don't play the lottery. :D
