Ok these last few days i have seen a pretty poor service from virgin, which i find unusual. I've had connection issues every day since thursday (since upgrade work was carried out). The connection is always dropping.

Am i the only one with these problems in the area? Or is there poor other souls out there?

I'm in Portsmouth. No trouble here at all. Broadband is working great. Has been for the last 4 months. In the PO5 area. I'm on cable modem 250.:)

Thanks guys,
I will have to keep an eye on my router and modem. Hopefully it will stop today.

Now i wonder if the main V box will let me use the On Demand

Up to the point that NTL became Virgin was nice. Now i want to cancel my contract. These speeds are a joke. It takes weeks till IE opens a url.

stupid, even in the morning i still get slow internet speeds great. I thought ntl becoming virgin would make services better aswell...why cant they fix bigger problems in the UK and just leave the TV HD after....

Im not sure if this is related, but im having a lot of trouble this evening.. very high packet loss, no more than 0.5Mbit/s (on 10Mbit!) and its unusable really ....

Anyone else in the portsmouth/horndean area having probs tonight?

its congested UBR in portsmouth apparentely, so some people will get latency issues or slow internet. virgin media said it will take a while to fix...its already been since october for me waiting until now...

Im in waterlooville an am also getting terrible speeds on my 4mb connection.....it ranges from 80kbs to 300kbs for download speeds - usually the lower end of this range. I've only started having this problem since switching to a CM from STB and at the same time switching from 2mb to 4mb.

I've noticed my downstream SNR fluctuates every time I refresh the cable modem's info page, but the upstream SNR stays solid. Is this the same with everyone else?

To be honest since I upgraded to 10mb a couple of weeks ago I'm consistently getting near top results - no matter what the time of day. There've been a few '1/2 speed' results, but a 2nd test and they're back up again. I'm pretty impressed.

moving to sky one soon, taking up that sky package, ntl/VM has just been a joke since october, bills getting more expensives, slow internet less than 1meg.
