Hi all

I have a tall standing fridge / freezer which has defrosted :Yikes:

Problem is the light comes on so it has power but temperature will not drop.

Does this sound terminal or would a good kick at the back help :dozey:

Many thanks

Mike

is the compressor getting hot?

first thoughts are that the compressor may have packed up, the thermostat may be faulty or there could be an air-lock in the pipework??

- has it been laid flat at any point?

This happened to me about 18 months ago and one of the engineers advised me to unplug and leave for 24 hrs then plug back in. It worked OK but I had spare space in a chest freezer to decant to.

Another possibility is that the heat exchanger fins at the back are clogged, or the defrost timer is stuck, any chance of a make & model for the freezer?

Is it the freezer or fridge that you are having problems with ? I have had to replace the thermostat on my fridge a couple of times over the years, sometimes if you give the stat a flick with your finger it can start up if so your thermostat is banjaxed
