View Full Version : Changing downstream frequency

I used to be able to change the downstream frequency in the SACM config page, there were two usable frequencies (I believe they were 331000000Hz and 339000000Hz). Sometimes when download speeds were seriously slow, I could change to the other one, reboot the modem and it would be ok (I was even instructed to do this by a customer service person once).

However now when I change to 331000000Hz and cycle the modem, it fails to boot and then cycles itself and goes back to 339000000Hz.

This is rather incredibly annoying as I'm currently getting appalling download speeds, around 1Mb when we're paying for 10Mb.

Tried customer services and they were no help - blaming my computer as usual when I've tested on 4 different computers and all the same problem.

So, anyone know what's going on?

Sorry, bump.

I thought the frequency changed the providers e.g. ex-CW

NTL original areas DOCSIS 402750000 Hz
NTL ex-C&W areas EuroDOCSIS 586750000 Hz
Blueyonder DOCSIS 331000000 Hz

I think it's more than likely to be related to this thread...

Correct, 331000000mhz is the only frequency you can use.

So why is mine forcing itself to use 339000000Hz then, and not letting me change it?

In some areas Blueyonder use 2 different downstreams at 331MHz and 339MHz.

Perhaps some problem or other thing has forced them to drop the 331MHz channel and all the people that were shared between them are now stuck on 339MHz causing poor performance.

Just a suggestion.

I'm guessing that's what the problem is. Only hope now is that they can fix it so I can actually get the "broad" part of "broadband".
