Hi
If a premises had Telewest tv or broadband installed before and it was cut off, would it be possible to still receive the televisions channels.I'm not sure if you need a box as you do with Ntl to watch the channels.
Thanks.
Yes you need the box :)
Unless it is just normal channels then you need an ariel

How? Does your TV have a DVB receiver built in?

Occasionally some channels are sent unencrypted in ANALOGUE format (which will be turned off eventually anyway) over the cable, connecting this cable directly to your TV CAN cause interference which can be traced back to you. I think UK Gold is encrypted, why should you get something you're not paying for?

Hi
I'm not sure.I've got a dispute with telewest at the moment over my internet connection.I have no cable directly coming in to my building from the catv cover outside. There is a cable however in the cellar which they have connected to which I believe was an old one which was a shared connection before between 3 buildings.I have an engineer coming out on Friday to see if he can find the fault.I will insist though that he finds the fault in the invisible cable that doesn't exist which should be coming in from the catv cover. The cable coming in is a 2 piece cable, one I believe for the telephone line and one for the Broadband. These go in to a booster box the cable then goes to a joint where the cable is thinner then to the main telewest box on the wall and a thicker white cable then connects to the modem. To cut a long story short if this line wasn't being shared how could I receive tv channels without having telewest installed.I did however have a telewest phone line before.

You cannot get free tv/broadband out of this cable. The STB Decodes the data that goes along that cable if the box does not have a lets call it a configuration file (on smart card) on it you will not get any channels. The same goes for the modem if the modem does not have a Docsys file save on it you will not get broadband. Thats as much as i am going to say im not aiding ( nor will anyone else ) in some-one geting free TV/Broadband.

In the Telewest area I was in before the cable carryed the anologe channels 1-5 and the FM Radio, the cable box didn't decode any of it. i know this because the cable guy connected the RF feeds together with out the box, bye mistake.
