Hi
I'm running Ubuntu Linux Edgy Eft, dual-booting with Windows 98SE.
I'm using an NTL SACM model 120 with the ethernet connection. I've got the 2Mb package.

When I do a clean install, this is how I've done it in the past:-

1) Wipe my hard drive.
2) Install Windows.
3) Set up my internet in Windows using the NTL Broadband Installer CD.
4) Then I make a partition and install Ubuntu in it.

Each time I have done this Ubuntu has always 'seen' my internet and worked straight away.
What I want to know is, next time - if I decide to dump Windows - what is the procedure for installing the NTL internet in Ubuntu?

PS Please keep it simple, for Dummies :dozey:

no need as you're connected to the modem via an ethernet connection, so after you've installed ubuntu the internet should work fine. no need for account info etc.

All you need is your email address & password to set up email access within ubuntu.

I dual-boot Windows XP Pro SP2 & Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on my desktop pc, and Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on my laptop.

Thanks Dave

So I suppose I just need to make sure that my SACM is powered up and connected to PC before the install.

It sounds nice and simple.

If the Ubuntu Live CD has everything working you are 99% guaranteed Ubuntu will do when you install it :)

I'm dual booting WinXP & Ubuntu 6.10, Windows XP was a right performance getting the connection to work, Ubuntu just connected.
