Also extremely slow for everything in North Manchester too. MSN appears to be working though, so I'm not sure if its the same problem as others are experiencing.

Terrible here (ST17), tracerts read like horror novels and a couple of speed tests indicated i'm on a dialup, it's been gradually getting worse since the DNS problems a couple of weeks ago, tonight feels somewhat like an expected climax :D

It was awful here this afternoon - BBC was about the only site that worked. It's fine now and I speedtested - 1.9 Mb - not bad for a 1 Mb connection!

Hotmail is downloading attachments at 12 to 16 KB/sec, other stuff is downloading not much quicker, though my speed test tells me I am getting just under 4 MB when I tried it.

Another day, another raft of complaints about NTL, what a shambles of a company, utterly dreadful. I have e mails with attachments that are taking 10 minutes to open. Pathetic.

Something tells me you've had the free upgrade to 2mb ;)

Mine has been terrible recently, I've got a call opened, I know about traffic shaping etc, but how about these from www.speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net)

This morning, and pretty much every morning

date Time Down Up Ping speed
11/15/20067:53 AM 9823 kb/s251 kb/s31 ms

Various times in the evenings
11/14/20069:13 PM 211 kb/s223 kb/s49 ms
11/14/2006 8:35 PM 717 kb/s 22 kb/s 83 ms
11/14/2006 8:16 PM 131 kb/s 94 kb/s 50 ms
11/13/2006 10:29 PM 1111 kb/s 304 kb/s 47 ms
11/13/2006 7:29 PM 194 kb/s 63 kb/s 62 ms

Awful, I'm supposed to be on 10 meg...

I've rebooted my new 250 modem, my router, tried a couple of dirrerent laptops and my pc. nothing helps.

Tech support told me my SNR was low, but surely if it works sometimes, it's down to their network?

This is starting to drive me to distraction now, plus the wife is complaining she can't do her xmas shopping online. This means less pressies for me!!!

Any ideas on where the fault would lie or what i can do about it?

Thanks in advance

Sorry layout looked terrible then, edited a little

General rule of thumb dude, dont listen to tech support - they are as useful as a chocolate fireguard...

2nd Line support are a lot better - after about 40 minutes of asking to speak to one you might manage it... then he'll send out an engineer to check your perfectly fine cabling... then they;ll report back to network team that the cache/proxy is useless and overloaded .. then maybe one day someone will fix it for you.

You need to start with the call tho ;)
