all 3 addresses work equally the same if you ping them in console
news.cable.ntlworld.com working for me
I wouldn't know, I can't get on the NTL newsgroups, with me being a blueyonder customer. Which seem bloomin unfair, seeing as NTL members have been able to join the blueyonder groups, since the merger

cool dude. Didnt you use newshosting? seen a lot of issues with them on this forum ive never seen these problems with giganews.Obviously theres contention slow down now and then but i still get 6 or 7 meg then lol
Theres Demon too that is cheaper than giganews but I feel paying the extra has been worth it for me

Blueyonder newsgroup any better than NTL? Or is it the same server with a different login?
blueyonders are supposedly a bit better but you can only get it if you are in a telewest region

Newshosting are now the pants. They are also trying to put the blame on NTL. How then can i get full speed from giganews but am lucky if i get 600kb with Newshosting. :(
I suggest anyone on Newshosting should relook at who they are using.

Ive read lots that its usually routing that causes slow speeds on usenet servers (could be other reasons though). The giganews europe server would be perfect for me, the traceroute on their site shows that it goes strait from NTL to giganews so you cant have routing problems .

How do I get news for free? I pay for news from NTL

That is the way i see it also, i pay ntl for a service that includes newsgroups.
The only reason zinglebarb says what he says is because he is after the reward from giganews for referring customers.

Sorry, but that is a little strong. If Zingle posted his giganews account number and then recommended GN, I would agree with you (and possibly take action).
I frequently recommend giganews as well. I personally don't do it for referal fees. I do it because GN (IMO) provide an excellent service. I suspect Zingle does the same.

Giganews have got a port with ntl...what more reason do you need to choose them?

maybe there blocking port 119? if there not blocking HTTP then you could try easynews if you have to.Not that I advocate leeching while at work lol

It should be working again now. Seems to have been the same problem that I had.. all of NTL becoming inaccessible for about 10-15 mins.

Yes it does seem to be working again now
I ditched Newshosting because of the constant authentication errors and crap speeds.
Been with Giganews now for over a year and its faster with just 4 connections, than NH was with 20!!
You can use Port 119 (of course), 23 & 563 (SSL Encrypted).
Put simply Giganews are the leaders in Usenet Service.
Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for in this world ;)
Newshosting were good in the past but they imposed a 8 connection limit since November. They did have a written limit of 8 connections before though I had to use 20 connections to get 10mbit speeds but now they email people and warn them to use only 8 connections or there will be consequences.

Yep - a friend of mine was using 20+ connections for ages and then right before christmas, they just cancelled his account for "excessive connections".

Easynews allow an unlimited number of connections.
