I've been looking at the post on this site and read one from a employee of ntl, saying that ntl.telewest give you free line rental with cable tv. We have the tv ( family pack + all movie channels ) and broardband 4Mg. Should i be paying the line rental ( £11.50 ), could someone please tell me ?

it should say on your bill line rental with tv package - £0 family plus sports and movies £55, you shouldnt be paying full price for TV and line rental, unless you have an additional line

I have 4mb bb, family pack tv, and talk unlimited - no line rental or set top box rental on my bill.

Here's the breakdown of my last bill
1 Family 30.50
1 Digital Set top box rent -
1 Unlimited 4mb 24.99
1 TU4MB & Family TV saving 11.00CR
1 Talk Unlimited Call Plan 5.50
1 Fully Itemised Billing 1.00
1 Line Rental with TV Pack -
Total Full Month Service Charges 50.99

So, no, I don't believe you should be paying for Line Rental.

If you're paying £30.50 for Family, then the £11 line rental is included.

Unlike my most recent 'merged two accounts into one' bill, where I'm being charged twice (sigh...), once as a separate amount, once within the £30.50 Family Pack.

This has also been happening to someone I know as well, paying £30.50, I've just got it down to normal price after a right snotty (NTL that is) call, they were so reluctant to do anything about it.

Anyway, I asked if it will be backdated and got a simple "no we don't backdate". Totally out of order and also I would like to know if that is the case and can they legally do and say that.

Hi all.

I asked a very similar question in this (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showthread.php?p=34129316#post34129316) thread a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a clear answer from anyone.

Up to last month, We had been paying £94.99 + calls for the following services..

1 x Family Pack + Sports & Movies (£55.00)
1 x Additional Digital STB (£15.00)
1 x Digital STB rent
1 x Unlimited 4Mb Broadband (£24.99)
1 x Standard 321

We were feeling the pinch a bit so got in touch with NTL to change our package.

Now, we are paying £61.99 + calls instead of £94.99 + calls.

Here's what we get now..

1 x Family Pack + Sports Collection (£37.00)
0 x Additional Digital STB (£0.00)
1 x Digital STB rental
1 x Unlimited 4Mb Broadband (£24.99)
1 x Talk Weekends

Note: I do not yet have a bill showing the new prices - it is due 06/11/06.

If the normal price for the Family Pack + Sports Collection (with line rental) is £48.00 and i am now charged £37.00, can i take it that the £11.00 line rental has been discounted to £0.00?

Like chrome, we had been paying £55 for Family Pack + Sports & Movies (with line rental).

1) Are we paying the correct price now?
2) How is the price (£61.99) arrived at?
3) Were we paying too much before?

no you were paying the correct amount before, they have just given you a free stb and given you an £11 credit, i would imagine when the bill comes in your family plus sports will show on the bill as £48 but you will have an £11 credit in there somewhere too

Thanks lostandfound.

Thats how i'm expecting my new bill to look.

Something like this..

1 x Family Pack + Sports Collection (£48.00)
1 x Digital STB rental
1 x Unlimited 4Mb Broadband (£24.99)
1 x Talk Weekends (£11.00CR)

I will post back in around a weeks' time.

Thanks again.

1 x Unlimited 4Mb Broadband (£24.99)
1 x Talk Weekends (£11.00)

Retention Offer (£11.00 CR)

Hi all.....

I know everyone will be getting sick of the "do i get charged right".... but can someone see if I am getting it right, if the phone line is free should it be £22.50?

Digital Base Pack & Telephone (£22.50)
Talk Unlimted (£5.50)
Unlimted 4MB (£24.99)
Caller Display (£1.75)
Family Pack (£8.00)
4Mb & Family TV Saving (credit £11.00)... i dont know what this is :o?

Hi all.

As promised, below is my new bill (exactly as printed).

13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x PremPlus Season Ticket
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x CO1 DTV Family Dual Sports (£24.00)
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x At The Races
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x Add Digi STB rental (£15.00)
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x Digital STB rental
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x BB 4Mb 1/2 Price 3 Months (£12.50CR)
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x Unlimited 4Mb Broadband (£24.99)
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x TW
13 Nov - 12 Dec 1 x ASSOCIATE FIRST LINE

Total Service Charges = £51.49 a month.

Ignoring the *short-term* discount on the BB, the new service charge would be £63.99 a month.

Our 2nd STB was collected yesterday by Qnet.

1) What is 'CO1 DTV Family Dual Sports' and how is the price of £24.99 arrived at?
2) Has the 2nd STB rental been left in to offset the new TV price?
3) Should I ring NTL and query the 2nd STB rental charge?

Thanks.

Roughneck.

if you only have 1 stb you are being overcharged £15 but you are on the associate discount too
