Not an expert but is the site a bittorent site? If so are there enough seeders on the file? Can't see NTL slowing the download at the end
ps Welcome to Cable Forum :)

I'm not sure if it's a Torrent site, but I do know it's not an illegal site, as you have to buy the games. I get emails from them but haven't bought anything yet.

It's not a torrent site. It's part of IGN/Fileplanet and to get full speed you need to subscribe.

theres no such thing as an illegal torrent site, as they are just referencing peoples files not storing files, and thats still not illegal or even just unlawful as the files referenced can be anything.

if torrents were illegal or even unlawful then NTL:tw wouldnt be entering into a commercial venture using this tech today.

if you have deleted or renamed the old part-file and it transfers at full wack upto the same point as the old one, then suddenly slows to a crawl then that points to the fast part being cached on the NTL:tw part, then when the un-cached part is retreaved, it is being pulled off the original server and that servers speed is seriously nackered.

is there another server with a copy of the content that you can switch to and hope that server is better connected/setup

whats the exact name of the file your downloading?, do a google on that and see if theres another copy somewere else on their end.

or it could just be the source site throttling the bandwith after a certain amount of per file data transfer, this would be consistent with a site that encourages you to buy a subscription.
