Hi folks.

I've got a connectivity problem that has gotten progressively worse over the past few days. The speed has been steadily degrading from days where I had 2-6Mbps to today which is:

1st 512K took 4000 ms = 128 KB/sec, approx 1055 Kbps, 1.03 Mbps
2nd 512K took 5625 ms = 91 KB/sec, approx 750 Kbps, 0.73 Mbps
3rd 512K took 5765 ms = 88.8 KB/sec, approx 732 Kbps, 0.71 Mbps
4th 512K took 4704 ms = 108.8 KB/sec, approx 897 Kbps, 0.88 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 859 Kbps, 0.84 Mbps

Utter rubbish.

I've noticed NTL users have also had similar issues. Is this down to the 20Mbps trials? Because if it is people are really suffering from it.

I've got a fresh install of Windows XP (No spyware etc)
I'm on a small home network (Linksys) and have tried connecting directly to the CM which doesn't help in the slightest.
The CM model is Motorola Surfboard SB5101e

The Blueyonder status page doesn't have any problems listed with my area so I'm damned if I know what's going on.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Technician is coming to replace modem shortly :)

Hello and :welcome:

I think I have the same problem still, check my thread http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=33602110

Ring ntl:Telewest up and tell them your problem.

The tests they ran with me were gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk and click on blueyondergames and then games and gtainstaller.zip which is 328M file. I was getting about 40Kb on a 10Mb connection and then tried netstat -an in Command Prompt to see how many TCP and UDP connections I had and then the....Oh read my post please.

Hey,

They did the same with me, was pulling about 90KB/s from their FTP. :/

Oh well, phoned them up and an engineer will be round later this week to take a look, they said my modem was most probably on the fritz.

Look forward to them fixing it though, going back to 0.xMbps is like going from driving a Ferrari to pulling a stagecoach with my hands.:disturbd: Wondering if I've an old modem too. This one doesn't say anything about upstream/downstream on its signal page. Ironically it's a completely different model from the first one I had on the day of installation, that one loved rebooting itself every 10 seconds.

Good luck.
