Bleh a bit late on this one but here ya go:

http://www.pipex.net/legal/changes-faq.php

Essentially overuse of connection at peak times results in being throttled down to a much slower speed - neither the usage limit nor the speed you are throttled down to have specified but in some cases has been shown to be really slow.

No tools are available on Pipex website to track usage, no more information regarding what they consider excessive is present at the mo.

Sadly, this sort of thing will happen more and more as people discover things like P2P and max out their connections 24/7 as a result. I am not defending any ISP that does this, but they will not spend what could be hundreds of thousands of pounds each year on network upgrades just to keep a very small percentage of their users happy.

I suspect this idea of "Capping" will spread a lot further.

Hey I absolutely agree and have been an advocate of it, I just like pointing out that the grass isn't always greener :)

I wasn't disagreeing with you.. Anyway, I have always said that that grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side. I know someone who changed his NTL connection to Sky/BT/Bulldog because NTL would not give him a date for upgrading his area, now he's sorely tempted to come back to NTL broadband (he's keeping Sky and BT) because his connection, although 4 meg, is not reliable, and mine, although 3 Meg, is quite stable.
